Arja
Arja is a kind of Balinese traditional opera, is a dialogue dramatari which were released in macapat. Arja Dramatari This is one of the most popular arts among the people. Arja's name allegedly derived from the word Reja (Sanskrit) which means "beauty". Gamelan music used to accompany Arja called "Gaguntangan" a soft and melodious voice that can add to the beauty tembang which chanted by the dancers.

Arja estimated emerged in the 1820s, during the reign of King Klungkung, I Dewa Agung Sakti. Toward the end of the 20th century was born Muani Arja, where all players are male, some female role. Arja was greeted with great enthusiasm by the public, especially since presenting fresh comedy.

Phase

Three important phase in the development of Arja is:

- The emergence of inclined Arja (Arja without the accompaniment of gamelan, played by one person).
- Arja Gaguntangan (who wore the number gaguntangan gamelan players more than one person).
- Arja Gede (hosted by between 10 to 15 players with a structure that is raw performance as they are now).
Play

Source Arja major play is the story of Panji (Malate), then so was born a number of stories like Bandasura, Pakang Raras, Linggar Petak, I Godogan, Copyright Kelangen, Made Umbara, Dempu Awang Cilinaya and widely known by the public.

Arja also shows plays from folklore as Jayaprana, Sampik Ingtai, and measures of Başûr Grantang and several plays based upon the story of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Any play that brought Arja always show the main characters that includes Inya, Galuh, Urge (Urge Rai), Limbur, Liku, Panasar, Sweet Mantri, Mantri Buduh and two pairs Panasar clown servants or their brothers - each consisting of Punta and Kartala.
